DISCOVER ARLES... Monuments.... Museums

Festivals and "férias" bring the city of Arles to life. Located in the heart of the Camargue, this city is home to a wealth of UNESCO World Heritage monuments, such as the Roman Arena, the Ancient Theatre, the Baths of Constantine, and the Church of Saint-Trophime, making it one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for history lovers.
Art permeates every corner of Arles. Numerous museums showcase a diverse range of styles throughout the year, blending tradition and modernity. With 17 venues dedicated to contemporary art, the city offers a kaleidoscope of events and exhibitions, defining itself as a place of enchanting contrasts.
As a fervent center for culture, Arles recently inaugurated the Luma Tower, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. This experimental complex serves as a major hub for contemporary art.
Throughout the year, the city is punctuated by festivals like Arelate, Les Suds à Arles, and Les Escales du Cargo. Most notably, Arles hosts the internationally acclaimed photography festival, "Les Rencontres d'Arles," which runs all summer long from July to late September.
The city's festive spirit is fueled by bullfighting traditions (ferias and corridas) and vibrant events featuring the iconic bulls and horses of the region. Blending tradition with deep respect for ancestral cultures, Arles offers a uniquely authentic atmosphere. The "must-see" events include the Easter Feria and the Rice Feria in mid-September.
It is impossible to speak of Arles without mentioning the magnificent Camargue—a childhood passion for many. Its wild, preserved nature, rich in flora and fauna—from marshes to beaches—is made unique by the deep attachment of its inhabitants.
Gourmets will find their happiness among Arles’ many restaurants. I would be delighted to share my favorite local spots with you.
Finally, the Arles experience would not be complete without the Saturday morning market, an unmissable spectacle for lovers of high-quality local produce and warm atmospheres. On Wednesday mornings, a more intimate market unfolds on Boulevard Émile Combe, offering just as many treasures for the palate.
